At THEA GORETTI CARE FOUNDATION, our mission is to empower individuals and communities through direct action, fostering self-reliance and resilience. A powerful embodiment of this mission was our recent free medical outreach in the Mabushi Community of Abuja—a direct initiative where compassion met our core values to create tangible impact.

This outreach was more than a health camp; it was a step toward our vision of a world where every individual has the opportunity and resources to realize their full potential.

Our Mission in Action: Services That Empower

Guided by our values of Empathy, Inclusivity, and Integrity, we designed the outreach to address critical gaps with dignity and care. Residents of Mabushi received:

  • Comprehensive Health Screenings: Tests for Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, HIV, Hepatitis B & C, Malaria, and Typhoid.
  • Free Treatment & Medications: Direct care following diagnoses.
  • Preventive Care: Distribution of Mosquito Nets and basic Dental Care.
  • Counseling & Health Education: Empowering individuals with knowledge about their own well-being.

Voices from the Community: A Catalyst for Deeper Change

The gratitude was profound. Many residents shared that this was their first-ever comprehensive health check, highlighting the acute need in an otherwise central part of Abuja.

This outreach directly served our goal to Expand Access to essential services. Furthermore, by identifying health conditions early, we empower individuals with the knowledge to seek ongoing care, fostering the resilience and self-sufficiency central to our objectives.

The event also reinforced a critical advocacy point: the urgent need for permanent healthcare infrastructure in underserved urban communities like Mabushi.

Aligning with Global Goals: A Holistic Approach to Development

This initiative is a tangible contribution to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating how community action fuels global progress:

  • SDG 3: Good Health & Well-being: The core focus of the outreach.
  • SDG 1: No Poverty & SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities: By providing free services to an underserved community.
  • SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals: Successful outreaches rely on collaboration with local leaders and volunteers.
  • SDG 5: Gender Equality: Ensuring women and girls had full, dignified access to all services.

A Model Built on Core Values

Every aspect of the outreach reflected our foundational principles:

  • Empowerment & Empathy: We met community members with compassion, providing not just treatment, but hope and information.
  • Collaboration & Accountability: We worked within the community framework and are committed to transparently sharing outcomes.
  • Innovation: Addressing complex urban healthcare gaps requires adaptable, on-the-ground solutions.
